The festival

What you can expect

The Niel Gow Festival is an annual celebration of Scotland’s rich traditional music heritage, held in the picturesque villages of Dunkeld and Birnam – the home of legendary fiddler Niel Gow (1727–1807). Over one vibrant weekend each March, the festival brings together musicians, dancers, and music lovers to honour Gow’s legacy and the timeless tradition he helped shape.

Audiences can enjoy an inspiring blend of concerts, workshops, and informal sessions, with performances from some of the finest traditional artists in Scotland and beyond. Alongside the music, the festival offers a welcoming atmosphere, a sense of community, and the chance to walk in the footsteps of Gow himself.
